Santa Cruz

The day the rain stopped Weston started asking me when we were going to go to the beach.  Almost every day as we walked to the car I heard "Mommy we need to go the beach.  The sun is out, so now we need to go to the beach right Mommy?"  Every. single. day. (unless it rained) we had this discussion.
So we finally decided the weather was warm enough, a friends son was on Spring break, so why not go to the beach.  We picked a day drove up...and it rained.  Also, the beach we planned to go to had all kinds of crews there doing something to the beach.  There was a huge black pipeline stretched across the beach and into the water, with some barges just off the coast.  We decided that it was probably the wrong beach to visit, and got in the car to go to the main beach at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.  Good times =)
The kids still had a great time, and the rain didn't last too long.  Here are a few (ok a LOT) of pictures from our trip!

This is when we first got there.  I don't know if you can tell, but they are wet and it's raining.  It was pretty cold too.  This picture made me laugh cause, to me, they are looking at each other like "Why in the world did our silly moms bring us to the beach in the rain?!"

Weston didn't really know what to make of the rain.  He was happy to  be at the beach, but at the same time playing in the rain at the beach wasn't exactly what he imagined.  Luckily, the rain ended soon after this!

Lukas loved the birds!  He kept trying to play with them.  Which is really funny cause Weston is scared of them.  Go figure =)
So close!

I didn't even realize until I got this picture uploaded onto the computer that he was standing next to this "sign".  Someone did the writing in the sand before we got there, but it made for a cool picture!

I just thought this was a funny side by side.  Apparently they make similar poses?

I asked him what he was doing.  He looked at me like I was crazy and said "I'm laying down in the sand!".  Thanks for the explanation Weston ;o)

My sad attempt to get them to take a picture together.  At least they agreed to stand close to each other...for .5 seconds and only because I said lets jump together.  I think I need a new tactic for next time.

I know you can hardly tell, but that's a little hole he's sitting in.  He really liked sitting in that hole.

You can see in this picture and the next the storm is coming back for us.
I can't remember why he decided to be mad at me in this picture...I see this mad face so often I don't pay much attention to it anymore.
We brought a kite and the kids had a lot of fun flying it.  To be honest I was kinda worried it wouldn't work.  I can't remember ever flying a kite by myself, so I was a little nervous that I would be the one responsible for making it get in the air!  It worked though, and we had that kite flying for almost 10 minutes straight...passed from kid to kid without crashing.

Lukas also enjoyed flying the kite, but I was afraid he would let go so I was usually helping him.

And this is how we ended the day.  McDonalds for Weston and Lukas crashed out before we even made the five minute trip to McDonalds.  Yes, those are half eaten SunChips and crumbs scattered on Lukas...apparently he fell asleep eating his snack.

Thanks for looking at all of these pictures!  We had a blast with our friends and are excited to head back soon.  In fact, on the way home Weston started in again..."hey Mommy?  When can we go to the beach?"  Umm, I think we just left the beach kid =)
